Basically, affiliate marketing involves joining one or more affiliate programs where you obtain the right to refer people to a merchant's website and get paid when such people buy one of the merchant's products.
Affiliate marketing is, for many, an ideal type of home internet business. This is because it's relatively easy to set up a website with the promotional offers (including product images, copy, price information and links) of various merchants. What's more, you don't need to process orders, or worry about having a merchant account, or worry about having to deliver any products. The merchant takes care of all that for you, while you reap the benefits of what is, essentially, an opportunity for ongoing income.
Your main task as an affiliate marketer is to attract people to your website and "persuade" them to click on your affiliate links and buy from the merchants in question. That being the case, to get started in your home internet business, you'll need to experiment with the plethora of ways to attract people to your site. These include search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising and article marketing, to name just three. And if you're not familiar with any of these... good news! Just do a search on these terms using your favorite search engine and up will come tonnes of links to helpful (and many free) resources to explain how to market your business on the internet.
